Looking Back

The art of rediscovering memories after mining a collection of ephemera was the foundation of Toivanen’s practice throughout her studies.

Travel documents, handwritten letters, text and found objects create a visual language to investigate the sense of place, loss of place, experiencing places and ideas of belonging through the techniques of printmaking, assemblage, artists books and drawing. This exhibition brings together a selection of Toivanen’s student works on paper focusing on memory and the built environment.
